Be The 'LEADER'

Getting the opportunity to be the head of 'Be The Leader'-An event for Leader's for Tomorrow, was a very enriching experience. Initially I did not know how I'll be managing 21 people and how we'll be able to convince others to join LFT but as the days passed and things had to be finalized, everything became clearer. When the event took off on 14th September there was a lot of pressure to be able to live upto what the co ordinators had entrusted me with but when we got 33 members from just one course, the confidence level shot up instantly. As I covered more and more classes, the conviction with which I told people about LFT kept increasing. It wasn't just conveying the message of LFT, it was a different thing altogether. Doing what you're asked to do and believing it as well are two different aspects. I started with just trying to complete the task I was assigned without concentrating on the message I was delivering to others but with time I started believing that LFT is an organisation which along with material benefits will also develop the personality of those who truly work for it and work with it. In the end when 'Be the Leader' event managed to get over 100 members, I felt overwhelmed not because I had completed the task I was assigned but because we worked as a team and were able to get people to join the organisation which we truly supported. The success of this event goes to all the participants who made it a point to do what they were given with utmost sincerity and dedication. I am sure that with the conclusion of this event, many of us already feel a sense of accomplishment within ourselves. Its true that with responsibility comes a lot of pressure but I am glad that the members who took part in this event realized that for it to be become a success we had to work together.I hope I get another such opportunity soon because more than anything I enjoyed every minute of the time I spent for 'Be the Leader'.

A day beyond description

“You have to dream before your dreams can come true”- Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam.
Yes I did dream. A dream to meet a man, who with his simple words and magnificent personality can stir inspiration and confidence amongst billions of people around the globe. A man who has a vision to make India the leading economy of the world. A man who is beyond words and description.
On 10th September 2011, this dream came true when I along with the others Leaders For Tomorrow members got the golden opportunity to meet Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India.  The interaction started with an introduction of all the LFT members, followed by a question put forward by Dr. Kalam. “Where do you see yourself after 10 years?”Sitting with him in his well-furnished office made me think about the next 10 years of my life, which before this very moment had never struck my mind. But as he says, a small goal in life is a sin, so we all pictured ourselves 10 years later, working at our dream place and told him about it.
It is very rightly said that experiences are the best capsules to make a person truly motivated and inspired in life. Considering the same, Dr. Kalam enlightened us about all his life changing experiences, the way he worked, the way he was thankful to his seniors and other great personalities who in one or the other way contributed towards making him, what he is today. His stories truly inspired us and instilled us with brimming emotions and encouragement. He motivated us to be good leaders and talked about the essential ingredients that make up a righteous and virtuous leader.
After meeting more than 1100 people during the past 17 years of my life, I realized that meeting Dr. Kalam was one experience that made me contemplate about the power of being what you are and not changing yourself for others. He truly said that, "Every youth wants to be unique, that is, YOU! But the world all around you, is doing its best, day and night, to make you just "everybody else".
With heart full of admiration and respect, I would like to thank Leaders For Tomorrow for giving me this wonderful opportunity to meet the role model and mentor of many and enabling me to see the world from his perspective. I would like to end with a quote by Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam:
We are all born with a divine fire in us. Our efforts should be to give wings to this fire and fill the world with the glow of its goodness.”

ADAPT - Adopt A Plant

“He who plants a Tree, Plants a Hope”. With this thought in mind, I took up the project Adapt. On 20th august when we gathered at the decided spot, I presumed it to be a very tedious job. All I knew was that if I have committed to this, I’m bound to give my 100%. Personally, making posters and collecting the logistics was very exciting. I got to know about the plants and their nature of growth. On the day of the event, when we did the planting, it was very satisfying. I felt like I’m making a difference to my mother earth and I’m working towards a better and greener environment. And, with all the LFT members, this tedious job became very interesting with all the plants being tagged by us. In those 2 hrs, we learnt so much about gardening and the need to plant more trees. At the end, all I would say is that it was a worthy and wonderful experience.
Thnx LFT :)

A young fresher comes to college with the hope to have an experience way different than school. The day you enter a college, you feel that you've grown up, all of a sudden from that tiny school kid to a college student. It lets you believe that there is a heavy possibility that you can make a difference. Out of the n number of societies and organizations to choose from, its imperative that you make a right decision cause it not only effects the kind of life you'd have in college ,but also your input to the society and more importantly your growth as a person. Leaders For Tomorrow, till now, has proven to be that 'right decision'. Take for instance, ADAPT, where we planted the saplings giving back to the earth, which also gave us a chance to interact with the other leaders who’ve set out to volunteer to attain a similar motive. LFT makes me feel worthwhile, like, I have a say in issues and I can ‘be the change’ and that I somehow belong. There are more events to come and I have set more hopes upon them. I hope to be an active part of this hyper-active organization where work is more than work- its FUN !

I heard people say that college life is the best time of your life. A college is a place where pebbles are polished and diamonds dimmed and as i stepped out of school gates, I was eagerly waiting for this awaiting phase. First few days of college were extremely vexing due to new surroundings where everyone was a stranger to each other. I imagined myself to hold the same eclat in my college as I used to have in my school. But then I realised I must be a part of an active unit of my college where i can identify myself. Then....finally I wanted to get a piece of the action in LEADERS FOR TOMORROW, an NGO from where I can groom myself into a better human being by being an individual of help to society.

Although its not been a long time in LFT, but I can contemplate the awaiting thrill, fun and opportunities by social action with my peers. The first project of "ADAPT" was quite adventurous because I never did such a thing and it was really laudable. Here, I found people very compassionate and focussed towards their goals who actually want to do something for the society where we live in and that attitude instills a sense of professionalism with a tinge of humanity. I hope I will feel myself gratifyied after a couple of months when I will be among those serving hands and live for others. I hope my companions will be supportive to each other in the upcoming days. And I hereby, promise to impart 100% of hard work and dedication from my side. Its true that a college pays a lot in one's life if you are a good open-field runner.

It has been feeling really great since i have joined the society named Leaders For Tomorrow. The name itself suggests what it is about. It is a non government organisation which believes in bringing the nation socially.Being a part of such a society feels great. The main motive of joining the society is serving the people and the nature.
It has been one week i guess since i hav joined the society and i feel honoured. The very idea of planting trees, teaching the under privileged children is very fascinating and provides immense joy.
Till now i hav attended the programme of ADAPT.It is a programme regarding adoption of a plant. We have planted nearly 16 saplings in the garden of roop nagar. It provides you the confidence of looking nature from a different perspective.
I am really happy to be the part of society and gives you immense pleasure to be the part.
